Removing my panties completely, Colton spread my legs so wide that it almost hurt. With his arms wrapped around my thighs, he alternated kisses between each thigh until he was right at the apex. His shoulders secured my legs in their position and then with a small flick of his tongue, he stroked my clit.

My eyes shut tightly as my hips raised instinctively in hopes of making contact again. I felt him breathing on me as he slid a finger back inside my wetness. With painstakingly slow movements, he explored the depths of me with his finger. His heated breaths were coming hard and fast as he hovered over my aching bundle of nerves.

Everything he did to my body pushed me to the brink.
I want to feel his ton—
.

My thoughts were interrupted as he licked and sucked on my clit while working his finger inside of me. The fluttering feeling deep in my belly was blowing my mind and building up to something massive. The way he was licking and sucking and fingering, it was as if he were stoking a fire. I lifted my hips slightly, forcing him deeper. I needed Colton inside of me.

“Please, please,” I begged as he regained control of the situation. He held my hips in place and continued his perfect tongue assault. “Please don’t stop.”

“I couldn’t stop if I wanted to,” he groaned before burying his face back between my legs and licking me harder.

My body screamed for him and hearing his words caused an electric charge to run through every inch of me. I ran my hands over my breasts and toyed with my nipples. He was in total control of my body as he increased the speed slightly, building my orgasm, before pulling away from me altogether.

“Please…please baby,” I murmured as I tried to push my hips up to his lips. “I—.” My sentence broke off into a loud hiss as he buried his tongue inside of me.

I moaned incoherently as he pushed me to the brink of my release. I panted as he sucked and licked and played with me. I whispered his name over and over again as I felt myself losing control.

Finally, a sinful purr rolled out of my mouth and my eyes shut tight as I bucked feverishly against his tongue. My mind, body and soul imploded with staggering pleasure that temporarily immobilized me. Alternating the pressure and speed of his assault on me, my orgasm was extended.

“I love the taste of you, Mya,” I heard Colton moan against me, causing the deep, burning need to have him inside of me to magnify. “Don’t move.”

I felt the mattress shift as he climbed out of the bed. I tried to gather my thoughts as I listened to my heart race.

“Wow…” I breathed as I continued to be frozen in the contorted position my orgasm mandated.

With my eyes closed, I heard him moving around, but I didn’t even try to see what was going on. Thirty seconds later, the bed dipped and I felt Colton’s full lips kiss just below my bellybutton and then work his way up. Pushing the thin fabric of my bra out of the way, he wrapped his lips around my nipples, alternating between each one. Kissing up my chest and neck, his lips finally returned to mine. We both moaned as we shared sloppy, passionate kisses. I could taste myself on his lips as he hungrily kissed me.

I ran my hands over every inch of his body that I could reach. His hardness was spearing me teasingly so I pulled away from the kiss in order to reach further down and wrap my hands around it. I felt the condom he must have just put on and I sighed contently. Letting him go, I leaned up and kissed him again.

When I felt the tip of him rub against my wetness, I moaned loudly. Opening me up and stretching me out, I felt every inch of his thickness sliding into me. I clawed at his back as he went as slow as possible. It felt so good that I couldn’t speak. Just grunts and moans poured out of me as he continued his unhurried strokes.

When our lips found each other again, we moaned in unison. I tried to rock my body against his faster, but my first orgasm took a lot out of me and the way he had my legs spread wide, it was difficult for me to seize control. I just had to lay there and take it. And it was one of the most erotic experiences I’d ever had.

“You feel…so…good,” he moaned as he plunged deeper into me and then gradually pulling almost all the way out.

I’m so close,
I thought as he was bringing me toward an orgasm that I knew would do me in.

Hitting a spot deep inside of me, I clenched tighter causing him to groan loudly. My orgasm was at the brink as he drove himself into me. I felt him struggling to continue moving slowly. He gripped my flesh and increased his pace, each stroke harder than the last.

Feeling him lose control pushed me over the edge. My mouth fell open and my toes curled. My head fell back in ecstasy and my back arched violently. Sheer, unadulterated carnality took over and I had no control of my pulsating body. The intensity of my pleasure spurred his on as he bucked against me while cursing under his breath. After becoming rigid, he collapsed on top of me.

After a couple of minutes, Colton rolled off of me and we lay side-by-side in the darkened room. The only sounds were our panting breaths. Just as it happened the first time we had sex, the power of my pleasure wore me out and my eyes fluttered closed.

The sound of rain against the window pane gently roused me awake. I was under the sheet and Colton’s arm was firmly planted across my middle. Lifting up as much as I could, I was able to make out the time.

Four o’clock in the morning,
I thought, sliding his muscular arm off of me. I didn’t want to admit to myself that leaving the warm cocoon of his bed was the last thing I wanted to do, but I knew that I needed to.
This has to be the last time. This won’t work. This can’t work. Casual, monogamous sex won’t work with Colton. He knows too much about me. And the sex is too good.

I slipped out of the bed undetected and I searched as best as I could for my clothes. Unable to find my G-string, I slipped on my jeans and shoes. After a few minutes of looking, the only articles of clothing that seemed to be on the floor were Colton’s. Standing with my hands on my hips, I debated if I should just throw on Colton’s shirt and leave with it or if I should keep looking for my own shirt.

The lamp beside the bed turned on and I jumped, startled.

“Your shirt is on the nightstand,” Colton yawned sleepily as he sat up in bed.

Shit, shit, shit,
I thought with wide eyes as Colton and I stared at each other.

“Thank you,” I replied with a steady voice and no emotion.

“Sneaking out?”

I smiled tightly and rubbed my fingers across my forehead. I didn’t answer. We both knew the truth.

“I get to ask you a question,” Colton pointed out as soon as I picked up my shirt from the nightstand.

I slipped the shirt over my head and took a deep breath. “What’s up?”

“Why does the idea of staying the night freak you out?”

Because that changes things,
I thought as I swallowed hard. Taking the hair tie that I kept on my wrist for safe keeping, I pulled my tangled hair in a manageable ponytail.

“Like I told you, I don’t do the whole…” I let the sentence trail off, not knowing exactly how to phrase my thoughts. His eyes were hypnotizing as they focused on me. “I’m just not looking for a—”

“A relationship,” Colton finished my sentence with an exasperated sigh. “I know. You’ve mentioned that. Every single time we hang out, you tell me. All ten times, you’ve mentioned it. Why do you think that is?”

“Because I don’t want you to get the wrong idea.”

“Do you know what I think?” He paused for a brief second and the look on his face let me know that it was a rhetorical question. “I think you say it to convince yourself.”

Colton pushed the sheet off of him and my eyes immediately focused on his nakedness. He grabbed a pair of basketball shorts and pulled them on and stood in front of me. I pursed my lips and folded my arms across my chest. I don’t know why I felt nervous and defensive, but I did.

He smirked and shook his head slowly. “Nothing Gold Can Stay, right?”

I blinked several times before I choked out, “What?”

“Every day since I tattooed ‘Stay Gold’ on you, I’ve read and reread Frost’s poem. The more I read it, the better I understand how it relates to you. I told you, I’m good at reading tattoos.”

A shudder ran through me, but I said nothing. I didn’t know what to say and I didn’t know where the conversation was going.

His warm hand ran over my shoulder and down my arm slowly. “You are beautiful. And strong. And unique. And incredible.” He said each word slowly and deliberately. He stopped his descent down my arm so that he could cup my face in his hands. “You are the gold. And no matter how you feel, you don’t think you can stay…because you think everything is temporary. You think what we have is temporary. But it’s not. And you can stay. If you give in to how you feel, you can stay.”

I shook my head, tearing my eyes away from his. The sexy timber of his just-woke-up voice was enough on its own, but the words he spoke were too much. Scared I would succumb to his touch, I moved away from him slightly. My rapidly beating heart skipped a beat as the butterflies invaded my belly. Unable to look directly at him, I closed my eyes and chewed on the inside of my bottom lip.

“Look at me,” Colton demanded. I fought his command for a full thirty seconds before I allowed my eyes to open and meet his. Tucking a hair behind my ear, he whispered, “I think you’re scared that if you stay, you’ll have to face the truth.”

I dropped my gaze from his eyes to his muscled chest and the tattoo that covered his chest and arm.

“What truth?” I demanded uneasily, still staring at his chest.

“I don’t think you’re ready to hear it.”

Raising my eyes to his, I swallowed the emotion I felt. “And I don’t think you know me as well as you think you do,” I retorted haughtily.

I have to end this. I have to end this tonight,
I thought as a sharp pain lanced through me.

Before he could say anything else, I turned on my heel and stormed down the hallway. “This is done. I don’t think we should see each other anymore,” I called over my shoulder angrily as I approached the door. Anger was an easier emotion for me to access than sadness.

Grabbing my arm, Colton spun me around so that I was facing him. “I’m all in. Right here, right now. I’m all in. I want this with you. Are you really going to tell me you don’t feel it, too?”

His words stirred something in me, but I didn’t say a word. I focused on the tip of his nose so I didn’t look into his eyes. I don’t think I would’ve been able to do what I needed to do if I looked into his eyes.

Running his thumb over the bare skin of my arm, Colton uttered softly, “Talk to me, Mya.”

Pulling my arm out of his hand, I glared at him. “I don’t have anything to say. It’s been fun, Colton. Take care.”

His face creased in confusion and I had to look away. “What the hell is going on right now? Why are you picking a fight?”

“Just let me go,” I demanded, reaching for the front door knob behind me.

“I’m not going to chase you, Mya. If you can’t admit how you feel for me…” He shook his head, letting the sentence trail off.

“This was supposed to be a one-night stand. That’s it.”

“And now?”

I glanced into his eyes and I saw something that scared me. I dropped my eyes from his. “And now it’s over,” I whispered.

“So that’s it? Just like that. You’re going to walk away? You’re done?” he asked, his voice was an angry mixture of hurt and confusion.

I swallowed around the lump in my throat and looked him square in his eyes. “Looks like it.”

Colton gave me a look that made my heart clench before I walked out of his apartment, slamming the door behind me.

“IT’S BEEN TWO WEEKS, MYA,
” Kelsey pointed out as we stood in front of the mirror in the break area of Duke & Duchess.

“It’s been thirteen days and I’m not calling him,” I replied, smoothing the loose strands of my hair upward into the high ponytail.

Kelsey looked at me seriously. “You’ve been miserable,” she pointed out, her voice lowering to a softer tone. “You may be able to fool everyone else, but you’re not fooling me. I know you. And let’s not forget, the night you ended things with Colton, you called me in the middle of the night—”

“It was almost five in the morning,” I corrected her, trying to lighten the mood. The smile on my face was forced, but it was there.

She rolled her eyes and continued, “You called me at five o’clock in the morning to tell me how big of a mistake it was to hook up with him. You were yelling and talking all this shit on the phone and when I arrived at your house, your eyes were so sad. No matter what you kept saying, I just saw the sadness in your eyes. And the sadness is still there.”

“I’m fine, Kelsey,” I lied, walking toward the door. “Let’s finish up this shift and then figure out what we are going to do for Devin’s birthday party tomorrow.”

Because Devin’s family had to cancel their planned trip to visit New York from Japan, in less than a week, Nicks planned a surprise party for Devin’s thirtieth birthday. Nicks was in charge of the entertainment since he’s known Devin the longest. Stephen was in charge of the guest list since he’s one of Devin’s best friends. Rhiannon and Jessica were in charge of the cake and food because it was the easiest task to handle. Kelsey and I were in charge of the music because we had the best taste in music.
