Chapter 3

Addison had one of the doctors at work
cut off her cast for her. She gave herself an x-ray just to see
what was going on, and hoped her bone had healed enough to play
tonight. The bone looked good. She might have to hold back on some
songs but she thought she could play most.

She walked into the locker room. “Okay,
Frank, so we’re good for tonight?” she asked, clipping her pager
back on her pants.

Frank was one of the top doctors on
staff, and a fine-looking specimen. He was about five eleven, with
short chocolate-brown hair, and deep rich dark brown eyes. He was
thin and lean, and very funny. To say Addison found him good
looking would hit the nail right on the head.

Yeah, your girls are good
tonight. So where are you guys playing at?” he asked, putting his
scrubs on.

It’s this club called The
Tab, it’s downtown.”

Maybe me and some others
should go down and see you guys sometime?” he said, shutting his
locker and smiling at her.

Well, if you find the time
that would be great. But I’ve got to warn you, it’s not the
soft-spoken sweet stuff, and it might surprise you how different we
are when we’re not at work,” she laughed, grabbing her
purse.

Addison, I couldn’t really
care less what you sang if your ass is on the stage.” He grinned
this predatory grin. Ad stopped and looked back at him, surprised
by his words. Then he winked at her. She smiled, and walked out to
go get Lynn and Tia. She didn’t expect that from Frank.

Lynn was already out at the van when Ad
and Tia walked up. Margie waved and they were just waiting on
Mindy, who always seemed to take the longest to leave.

You know, I think Frank
was just hitting on me,” Addison told Lynn, who had already pulled
out a cigarette and passed it to Ad.

No way! I tell you if I
was straight, that’s the kind of fucking man I’d be doing. He’s
hot, Ad!” she told her, lighting herself a smoke.

I don’t know if I’m ready
for dating again. Tommy hasn’t even gotten back to me about whether
Jimmy signed my divorce papers. For all I know I’m still married!”
Ad said.

Lynn snorted. “Like it ever meant
something to his ass. He’s the one screwing everything in sight,
Ad, might as well get your fucking orgasms while you can…don’t you
think?”

Margie chimed in. “I have to say I
agree with Lynn on this one. Why not get some hot hunky doctor in
your bed and have a little fun?”

Tia laughed. “Did you say hunky?”
Margie shrugged.

Okay, ladies, so loosen
the hell up and have some fun. I think I can manage that,” she
laughed as Mindy came out to the van.

Sorry I’m late, I got held
up,” she said, out of breath.

Come on, it’s our first
gig tonight, let’s go show this town how to really rock!” Addison
told them.

And find some hotties to
lay,” Lynn smiled happily.

Win was opening the front door when he
got a text from Andy, something about “that beautiful sight, and
we’ll all be having some fun tonight.”

All the girls were coming from their
apartment carrying band equipment. Three of them had on holey
jeans; one had on tight leggings decorated like a skeleton. They
wore rock-band shirts too sheer to cover up their bras, their
makeup was heavy and their hair straight or in funky colors, two of
them with guitars on their backs. Andy was right, there was nothing
hotter than this.

South, you’ve got to check
this out,” he called back. He saw the little blonde stop for a
moment and look at Andy with a smile. He looked star-struck even
from where Win stood.

Tia, let’s get going,”
said a voice that Win had been thinking about since the first day
he’d heard it. Even now when he brought some piece of ass home,
this woman permeated his thoughts. South came to the door at just
the right time to see Addison come walking out.

Her hair was pulled back into a long
ponytail, but the back was teased with a black bandana going around
her head, her bangs swept to the side and tucked under the bandana
at the ear. Her makeup wasn’t as harsh as the others’, but one
thick black line flared out at the corners of her eyes, and she
wore candy-apple-red lipstick.

Her shorts were studded cut-offs rising
high on her thighs, where garter belt straps held up holey fishnet
stockings. Her t-shirt was form fitting with a skull smoking a
cigarette on the front of it. The front was tucked in with a
big-ass zombie belt buckle out front.

The leather jacket was big on her, but
the high-top tennis shoes were the fucking topper on the perfect
package. She had a guitar strapped to her back, and put a smoke in
her mouth as she made her way to the blonde.

Say goodbye, Tia, we have
a gig tonight,” she told her. But the blonde didn’t
move…yet.

We’re playing at this club
called The Tab, you’ve heard of it?” she asked Andy. The idiot
nodded.

Well, maybe I’ll see you
there. We start at eight,” she told him in a sweet
voice.

He smiled and nodded. “Sure, see you
there,” he managed to get out.

He saw Addison roll her eyes, then take
the girl by the arm, walking her their way.

South thought this was the perfect
opportunity to get his foot in the door. “So you guys are the new
band who are playing at The Tab. We’re the Inferno, who you’re
going to be replacing when we get our record deal,” he informed
her.

Now, what South expected was for her to
get all starry-eyed over such a vital piece of information. But
instead she looked at his arms that were completely covered in
tattoos, and his pierced lip, and then her eyes wandered over to
Win, with one tattoo sleeve and his brow and lip
pierced.

She laughed this rumbled sound of sexy.
“Well, that’s really good to know. I’ll remember to tell Lynn
she’ll be getting more pussy then.” She winked.

Her silver-coated aviators went over
those violet eyes; she pulled her Zippo from her back pocket and
lit her smoke. “See ya around, fellas.”

South’s mouth dropped open, but he
looked to see that Win was grinning at her. “You know what this
means, don’t you?” Win said to South.

Hell yeah, we’re getting
our asses down to the club tonight.”

Win glanced over at South. “You think
you and I might have a problem if one of us walks away with her
first?”

Dude, since when have we
ever let a chick come between us? Even one as fine as
that?”

But Win didn’t look convinced, and that
had South worrying. He never thought there could ever be a woman
like Addison. Hell, he never thought he’d have a chance to hook up
with a woman like that. But he also knew if he came home and Win
had her in his bed…things could possibly get pretty fucking ugly
between the two of them. Win turned to go back into their place,
but South knew he was thinking the same thing he was.

Win texted Andy and Rex that they were
heading to the club so be ready, then stepped into the shower. For
the first time in his life, he was ready to fight his best friend
to get a woman. That had never been a problem for them since junior
high, and that hot little Rosie Martinez. Even then it wasn’t
really fighting over her, it was more, who was going to be her
first. This was going to be some new shit for him and
South.

He looked himself over in the mirror,
and with a shake of his head he knew how far he was willing to go
to get what he wanted…and that was all the way. “Damn
it!”

Addison helped to get all the
instruments arranged on the stage with the girls. The lights were
dim in the old bar, but it was clean and the crowd looked energetic
enough. There was nothing worse than to have a limp-dick audience.
She looked all around to see the club was starting to fill up. Then
she noticed the group of guys walk in that she now knew was the
band Inferno. “Well I’ll be damned,” she chuckled. Then Tia made
her way to her.

I think we’re all done,”
she chimed in happily.

Addison flicked her head in the guys’
direction. “Looks like the guy you were talking to decided to show
up tonight after all.”

Tia’s eyes grew wide as she looked out
and found the heavily tattooed guy smiling at her. “Oh my gosh!”
she gushed, turning away. “He did come…” She smiled, taking a quick
glance once more.

Lynn came over and draped an arm around
Ad’s shoulder. “What the hell’s going on now? If I didn’t know any
better I’d say Tia’s blushing,” she teased.

Be quiet, Lynn…” Tia
scolded, but glanced back at Andy.

With a chuckle Lynn shook her head but
looked over at Ad. “Hey, are you going to be able to play with that
wrist tonight?”

Ad sighed. “I should. I might have to
have you do some solo if my wrist starts to ache.”

Do we have time for a
celebration drink?” Mindy asked, getting up from behind the
keyboard.

I think we could all use a
stiff drink,” Lynn said.

Margie smirked. “I love things
stiff.”

Addison laughed as she jumped off the
stage and made her way to the bar. She looked back at the girls,
who were checking out their new neighbors. So all the women around
here loved Inferno. Well, in her book both Win and South were
complete hotties, but there was something about Win…

Addison shook her head at the direction
her mind was going. What she needed was to stay focused on her
goals, on her work. The last thing she needed in her life ever
again was someone who wanted to be a rock star! No, that was the
last thing her heart could handle.

Those asses probably came here to see a
chick band who did some kind of fluffy rock, talking about how
they’ll always love their man, and watch them crash and burn on the
stage. Little did they know this was the girls’ favorite hobby, and
they could rock the fuckin’ house! That had Addison
smiling.

She went over to the bar, where some
idiot immediately tried to pick up on her. Drunk jerks live
everywhere. So she just ignored him as she rolled her eyes at his
slurred pick-up line. When the bartender came over and asked what
she was having, she wasn’t sure what everyone was in the mood
for.

Ladies, we suckin’ Jack,
or Jim tonight?” she hollered, and every man within earshot looked
her way, but they all screamed back.

Jim,” came the reply as
they laughed.

She asked the bartender for a bottle
and five shot glasses and made her way back to the table, purposely
turning her back on the men sitting right next to them. The last
thing they needed was more men in their lives, especially when her
ex-man could be a real pain in the ass!

Lynn grabbed the bottle, pouring the
shots. “So what should we toast to? You know the rules when we
start a new gig,” Ad reminded them.

I say we toast to a new
beginning, and all the fucking ass we can handle!” Lynn
grinned.

They all lifted their glasses. “To new
beginnings, and to all the new ass!” they screamed at each other,
throwing back their shots and slamming the glasses on the
table.

Someone cleared his throat and they all
turned. “So ladies… I hear you’re the new band hoping to take our
spot,” said one of the guys they’d never met before. But his mouth
hitched up and Ad glanced to the side at the recipient of that
grin, and Margie grinned right back at him.

Lynn scoffed at that, having herself
another drink.

Margie came around, flinging her arm
over Addison’s shoulder and looking this new guy up and down.
“You’re the one who came to the door the other day.” Her eyes
roamed over him in a very sexual manner. “So, you’re in a band?”
she asked.

Yeah, babe. I’m in a
band.” He smiled widely, glancing over at his friends.

She and Margie looked at each other
with smirks on their faces, but Margie answered him. “That is just
too bad. You see, none of us go for the rocker type. We like them a
little more on the clean-cut side, you know, no tattoos or
piercings, no smoking.” She leaned into them a bit. “You see, those
are the ones that are fun to break in,” she teased, and he was
about to say something but stopped, and his mouth closed
shut.

Shit, Margie you stumped
him,” Ad chuckled.

Addison poured herself another shot,
looked at South and then threw it back. “Well, I guess I should
introduce us to you, since I have a feeling we’re going to be
seeing you around…”

Her hand patted Margie’s arm dangling
from her shoulder. “The one around my neck is Margie, our
drummer.”

Margie kissed Addison’s cheek. “Hello,
gorgeous,” she purred, and winked at the guy she liked.

The tall one on my right
is Lynn, she’s bass.” But Lynn wasn’t interested in talking. So she
just grabbed the bottle of whiskey, poured herself a shot, saluted
them, then threw it back.
