CHAPTER
TWENTY

A gift. Each day was a gift.

And what a
gift it was.

Jasmine
Whiley, Queen of the Uthuro and Destair Bear Tribes, opened the wooden flaps on
the window of her tree house to stare down at the forest below. Enough time had
passed that her baby Grizzly had grown up into a healthy and athletic boy, who
was in the forest below staring up at her.

He paused,
his grip on the rock in his hand loosening. “Mom…?”

“What is it,
dear?” Jasmine replied yawning.

“Is it okay
if Lucas and I go play in the rock pools by the waterfall?”

“Did you ask
his mother?”

Lucas popped
his head up behind Grizzly. “She’s not awake yet.”

“Okay,”
Jasmine said. “You can play there for half an hour but then you have to be back
for breakfast.”

Something
caught her attention behind her.

“Better make
it one hour,” Jasmine murmured.

“Okay…”
Grizzly said.

Both boys
shifted into their dragons and then flew up into the air over the trees towards
another part of the forest.

As Jasmine
was about to turn away from the window she spied Stacey and Zane walking down
the footpath towards them.

“Jasmine?”
Stacey sang out.

“Good
morning,” Jasmine hollered back.

“Have you
seen the boys?”

“I said they
could go play at the rock pools.”

“The little
tyrants,” Stacey muttered. She raised her voice. “They pinched Zane’s cloak of
invisibility. They’re up to mischief!”

“Oh dear,”
Jasmine gushed. “I’ll be right down.”

“No, no, no!”
Zane chuckled. “We’ve got this one. You got the last one.”

“Oh,” Jasmine
said, taken aback. “Are you sure?”

“Don’t
worry,” Stacey said. “They won’t get too far.”

Then Zane
shifted into his dragon and Stacey climbed upon him.

Jasmine moved
away from the window.

She felt a
hand around her belly. A mouth at her neck.

Another mouth
moving up her legs.

“Everything
okay?” Brad asked whispering into her ear.

“It is now,”
Jasmine murmured.

She allowed
them to pull her down to their bed while each took their turns to kiss her, the
other making love to her.

Each of them
so different.

Each of them
so pure.

And they said
it a thousand times.

“I love you,”
Brad said.

“I love you,”
Spike said.

“I love both
of you,” Jasmine said.

High above
their mighty forest, the bear kings and their bride lay within a blanket of
never ending happiness and perfection.

Shifters
united. Peace on earth.

Jasmine often
wondered when their brilliant spell would be broken, and tragedy would strike
at the heart of them.

But the truth
of it was, for all of them…

For Jasmine,
Brad and Spike.

For Stacey
and Zane.

For Grizzly
and Lucas.

For the bear
and dragon shifters residing in this paradise for a forest…

It was only
going to get better.
