It was ten o’clock at night and there was a loud banging at my door. I wondered who the hell was knocking. No one except for Renee knew where I stayed and she was laying in the bed watching an episode of Love and Hip Hop. I didn’t even count Mel because she had disappeared off the face of the planet.

I made it to the door and looked out of the peephole. There were two police officers and some lady standing on the other side of it. I snatched the door open wondering what they wanted.

The officer looked me up and down, then he focused on a sheet of paper and at the address.

“Hello sir, I’m here because the owner of the house, Ms. Talia Rogers, has made a complaint that you’re trespassing on her property. Do you have a lease agreement or documentation that proves you should be here.”

He was a short and chubby Irish cat. Just by his demeanor I could tell that he was an asshole and I didn’t have time for this. I almost told him something, but, I remembered to keep my attitude in check because it would most definitely lead me to a jail cell.

“So is this Ms. Rogers?” I asked, irritated. I looked at the lady standing in between the two officers up and down. I knew her from somewhere but I just couldn’t place my finger on it.

“Excuse me. You’re talking to me.” The officer started, “Do you have any paperwork or not?”

So this was the game that Mel was playing, huh? This was why she just disappeared? Well I was smarter than the average bear. I had my put together a packet with proof that the check I wrote to purchase the home had been cashed. I had the date, and a copy of it with Talia Rogers’ name. I also had printed out text messages between me and Mel.

I went to my desk inside of my office and pulled them out. Plus, I had mail here and Michigan has a swatter’s rights law. They would have to take me to court to put me out.

I politely made my way back to the porch and shoved the papers into the officer’s face. Then I eyed Ms. Rogers, giving her the mean mug. I could tell by the cheap ass dollar store weave that she was rocking that she was on some shady shit. She couldn’t even look me in my eyes.

After looking over the paperwork, the officer turned to ol’ girl with a disapproving glare. “Ms. Rogers what are you trying to pull here?” He handed her the papers and she barely looked at them. “Look, you’re going to have to file a complaint in landlord tenant court.”

“Have a nice day, sir.” The other officer who hadn’t spoken the whole time nodded before everyone walked off. I watched them leave and I was livid! I needed to hit up an attorney asap to get everything straight.

Mel

I could just slap the shit out of Talia’s ass. She fucked everything up! When the police asked what was going on, all she had to say was that she was out of town and she had no knowledge of what was going on. Now she was ready to back off and fork over the deed to the house.

That would be her loss. It was her property and she could do as she pleased. I know one thing though, I wasn’t going to be giving her a dime of that  $150,000 from Diesel back She’s the one that messed up. She could have had the house and the $25,000 that I gave her.

The house belonged to her ex-boyfriend. It was in her name and when he was murdered, she inherited everything, including his cars, his jewelry, his stash and two other houses. Talia wasn’t hurting for money at all and that’s why her scary ass was throwing in the towel so easily.

“I knew I shouldn’t have got involved in your shit Melisa.” She boomed, marching into my house like she owned the place. Her face was all tight, looking like a Chihuahua puppy. “If the police come at me and I go down for this shit, I’m fucking you up.” She added.

Did this bitch just threaten me? I wish she would put her hands on me. I rolled my eyes, waving her off. “Whatever, I went over the plan with you but you’re the one that dropped the ball.” I stepped closer to her, getting into her personal space. “And furthermore, don’t you ever threaten me again!” I gave her the look of death, intending to instill fear in her.

She didn’t flinch. “Bitch please! That wasn’t a threat. It was a promise. I will fuck yo’ shiesty ass up without a second thought.”

Damn, when did this bitch grow some balls? Oh she thinks that she’s tough? I reached over and smacked the shit out of her and I was about to drag her ass. But, she had the nerve to sucker punch me back, catching me off guard.

It was on from there. We were in my living room fighting like cats and dogs. I had misjudges Talia, she was putting up a fight. Lord, I wasn’t prepared for this.

Then it happened, I slipped and she took advantage of my vulnerability. He began to stomp me out.  He had the audacity to put her nasty ass feet on me and it had me seeing stars.

At this point, I just gave up. I was shocked. For as long as I had known Talia, she was a pushover. I had something for her ass though. She should have known not to fuck with a crazy bitch!

“And yo’ trifling ass can keep that money from the house.” She spat once she had stopped fighting me. Her breath was all winded. “That money is nothing to me. You’re a fake ass bitch and you’ll never have any good luck.” She looked down at me with such disgust, then she snatched her purse up and marched off like she just did something. The only reason that she got the ups on me was because I fell.

Shit, my body was aching. “I need to hit the gym!” I groaned, peeling myself up from the ground. I was past pissed. Just look at my house! It looked as if a tornado had hit it. Who was going to clean this shit up?

Diesel

I wasn’t feeling the way that Mel was trying to play me like a punk ass nigga. The bitch is playing a game that she can’t win. I could buy ten more of these houses. Besides that, I’d burn this motherfucka’ to the ground before I allowed someone to put me out.

To say that I was pissed about everything that transpired would be an understatement. She was doing herself a favor by staying away. I should have let Renee tag that ass.

I began to smile just thinking about Renee. My baby stayed ready to pop off. I liked that, but, I wasn’t about to let her be out here fighting and carrying on. She didn’t have to.

Speaking of Renee, I was supposed to be meeting her at the house in a few minutes so that we could go see that damned girly move with Idris Elba in it. Fuck Idris! I know I’m cuter than him. I mused, hopping up from Gotti’s couch and announcing that I was about to leave. I had been chilling over there for a couple of hours, kicking it with the fellas while sipping on a few Coronas.

I was supposed to bring Renee with me so that her and Chiquita could get to know each other. But, for some reason, Renee didn’t too much care for Gotti or Chiquita. I didn’t even try to figure out why. Gotti was my homeboy and Renee was m lady. That was all that mattered.

“Alright nigga.” Gotti said, standing to give me dap and walk me to the door. “Let me know if you want me to off that bitch.” He leaned in and whispered, referring to Mel.

I shook my head with a smile. Gotti stayed ready to bust his guns, and that was the main reason I kept him on my team.

“Nah, I ain’t even worried about her. I paid for the house and I ain’t going nowhere. She ain’t getting over on nobody but her damn self.” I told him, making my way out of the house.

He just nodded his head. I knew that Gotti was serious as a heart attack. He took loyalty to heart and he didn’t play when it came to the people he considered family.

The movies was packed, much to my displeasure. Renee was lucky that I loved her ass. I haven’t been to the show in years, and as I stood in this long ass line that didn’t seem to be moving, I concluded that this probably would be my last time coming.

Renee said that we need to be doing more regular people stuff. But what do “regular” people do? She wanted to do stuff like going skating ans shit. I’m damn near forty, what I look like hopping my big ass on some skates.

Let me stop complaining though. I’d do anything for my baby. Even if it meant standing in this long line while the fag in front of us keeps looking back at me. I want to ask him what the hell he looking at but I’m trying to ignore him. I had a lot on my mind lately and I didn’t want to have to take that shit out on him.

“Yo name Diesel ain’t it?” He finally spoke, completely facing me now.

I looked at him again to see if I knew him. I didn’t and I wasn’t trying to have no conversation with him, so I just turned away.

“I knew that was you!” He boomed, all hyped up. “I know you doing yo’ thang with the music and I’m the hottest nigga in the city!” He boasted.

Aww shit, I sighed. I hope he wasn’t about to start rapping to me. I just wanted to chill in peace. And Renee wondered why I didn’t like doing “regular” shit other than the bar.

Before I got a chance to respond, this fool got to spitting some crazy shit that had me looking at him with a blank stare.

“I’ll punch a nigga in his face and make his eye bleed.

Kidnap ya daughter, nigga try me…”

He kept it going, rapping for what seemed like forever. I mean he was all into it too, using his hands to emphasize his words and everything. I was past irritated. I couldn’t drown him out even if I wanted to. All I was trying to do was get some popcorn and watch this damn movie.

When I didn’t say anything, I guess he took that as his cue to keep going. Renee must have been irritated by it too. She pulled on my arm and gave me that look.

Enough was enough. I stopped him. “Look, me and my-”

“Hold up, hold up. This the sweet part.” He had a nerve to cut me off. “Hustle all day, Hustle all night. I hustle, I hustle!”

I was trying to be nice but he wasn’t getting it. So I said fuck it. “Don’t you see me with my lady, nigga? Ain’t nobody trying to hear that wack ass shit.” I grimaced, giving him an ice-grill.

Renee knew that I was about to go off too, because she began to rub my arm in an attempt to calm me down. Me and ol’ boy were locked in a serious stare down. I could tell that if he could, he would have slapped the shit out of me. I dare him to try me. He would have to prove that he was as gangster as the shit he was trying to rap about.

“Fuck you!” He finally spat, his chest was all swelling up. I was waiting for him to swing. I wasn’t about to be in this bitch wrestling with no kids. I had my nine tucked on my waist, waist for niggas like him.

“Chill out D’Angelo!” His girlfriend squealed, grabbing him trying to yank him away. “We’re all the way in Dearborn and I’m not about to bail you out of jail!” She added, looking from me to her little fuck boy.

He snatched away still griming me. Okay he think he tough.

I looked around, a few people began to stare, but I didn’t give a damn. I  discreetly lifted my shirt a bit just so that he could see a hint of my pistol. “You feeling froggish little nigga?” I asked, as his eyes bucked and he and his girl took a few steps back.

“Oh my goodness! Diesel!” Renee yelped. “Come on before you be the one in jail tonight. Forget this movie!”

I kept my eyes trained on this fool. By now we had caused too big of a scene. I saw the security guard in the corner on his radio, and people were staring so I decided to make my exit. Maybe I did go a little too far. But I felt like I was being tried a little too much lately.

I hadn’t been home all day, so I wasn’t surprised that my mail box was full. I grabbed the mail while listening to Renee still complaining about what went down at the movies.

I didn’t respond. I just listened. I wasn’t trying to argue with her. I was trying to hit that tonight.

That shit wasn’t even my fault, I thought opening an envelope addressed to me without a return address. Enclosed was a letter with no name and the deed to this house. I looked the deed over with shock. I thought that Mel was trying to play me but I see she got that shit together real quick.

I looked over the letter next. I assumed it was from Mel but as I read it, I definitely began to realize that it wasn’t from her. Whoever sent it had me feeling some type of way about the content. It read,

Diesel,

I decided to go ahead and give you the deed to the house. I don’t want to be involved in the shit that you and Mel have going on between y’all. Whatever you did to her must be serious because she has it out for you hard. All I can say is watch your back because she’s a bitter vindictive bitch!

Be safe,

I read the letter a second time. Damn, I wondered if I did something to Mel other than fucking around on her back in the day. We weren’t even kicking it like that though. I hadn’t been showing her nothing but love now.
Maybe Killz was right about her being crazy
, I  thought as Renee leaned in and asked what I was reading.

I let her see the letter and showed her the deed to the house. “Yea right! I wish that bitch would try something! I already owe her an ass whooping.” Her lips formed a frown.

“I ain’t worried. We got the deed now so the bullshit is over. I’m just ready to enjoy us.” I told her ending that conversation. Renee and I had been doing good lately and I wanted to focus on doing better. Maybe we could work on kids and marriage. I eyed her sexy ass as she stood before me. We could start with working on the kids first.

Renee

I was about sick of this Mel chick and all of the desperate shit that she was doing to get my man’s attention. She just didn’t know, I’d fuck a bitch up for messing with mines. She’s too lucky that she won’t show her face.
