ERICH VON DANIKEN was born on April 14, 1935, in Zofingen in Switzerland and attended the St. Michel Jesuit school in Fribourg. He published his first book, Chariots of the Gods, in 1968. It was a worldwide best-seller that has been followed by 31 further books. He is the most widely read and most copied nonfiction author in the world. His works have been translated into 28 different languages and have sold a total of 63 million copies. Several of his books have also been filmed, and Erich's ideas have been the inspiration for a whole range of different TV series.
