“I assume you work, then.”

“It’s what normal people do.”

“You’re not normal people. You’re a witch.”

“But that doesn’t mean—”

“Am I hurting them?”

“No, but—”

“No harm, no foul.”

“Feels pretty freaking foul to me,” she said under her breath.

“Was I meant to hear that?”

“Yes.”

“You’re right,” he said with a sigh.

“I know I am.” The self-satisfied smirk didn’t even wobble when she snatched another handful from the cart’s return trip.

“Because, Dinah, we should never, ever use our abilities for our comfort.”

Whatever high and mighty message she was going to make with her index finger directed at his face, she dropped. “Maybe I see your point.”

“Do you?  More champagne?”

The woman rolled her eyes and put a few bagels in her purse. Before he could enlighten Dinah on her rudeness, she threw him a wink. “So, what’s in Chicago?”

Mercurial minx. Damn him, but she was starting to make him enjoy her.

“It’s a connection to Vegas.” He waited a second for her to finish snickering. “Before you ask, yes, it happens to be a great place for the djinn. Who doesn’t want to get rich in Vegas? You?”

“Napa Valley.”

“I win.”

“Oh, c’mon. It’s nice this time of year. There’s a little chill in the air, but it keeps the tourists away. You should come. I mean...go, sometime.”

“Maybe.”

No, not maybe. He wasn’t about to change his vacation plans for an ornery witch he’d just met.

One with huge, hazel eyes and lips he wouldn’t mind seeing wrapped around his...no.
No.

Down boy.
“So, you’re from Galveston, then?”

“Yeah. My family comes from a long line of witches.  We’re descended from a woman in Salem, who ran away with her African indentured servant. The family stayed up North as the centuries went by. We only came down to Galveston two generations ago because of my great, great grandfather and the Creole queen he had to have. It caused quite the scandal, we’re told. So how does a genie—”

“Djinn.”

“Sorry, djinn, get here? Or there?  I’m assuming you’re in Galveston. And how long have you been here? I mean, I know there are a lot of Others, but I think I’d have heard of you.”

“Because of my stunning good looks?”

“Because of your pompous propensity for assholeism.”

“Cute. But, no. I tend to avoid the limelight. Something my parents taught me a while ago.” He swallowed past his tightening chest and skipped through his past, landing only on the happier times. “I was born in Algiers. I think. My parents are so old they can hardly remember anymore. I—”

“Stop. I can’t let that go.  How old are they,” she asked, shooting her seat back up and leaning forward. “In people years, I mean.”

“As opposed to what? Dog ones?” The knots that bound his chest unraveled and he snorted at her shrugged shoulders and twisted mouth. “Mother remembers the rule of the Ottomans. My father goes even further back, to the Fatmids.”

“And you?”

“I’m the last of...well...a lot. I wasn’t born until around the Spanish American War. Imagine the wishes  I had growing up.”

Dinah’s face softened and she laid her hands on his. Big mistake. Crazy, super, great, terrible and wonderful mistake.

Djinn weren’t like werewolves, dogs sniffing out a mate. They weren’t suckers either, killing their women in a twisted version of love.

Passion made up the meat and bones of his kind. For djinn, touch registered as the preeminent sense. That’s how they found their mates...and he’d just stumbled across his.

Bloody, fucking hell.

“That must have been horrible for a young djinn. I’m sorry. You okay? Please, say something. I didn’t mean to bring up something like that.”

“Uh...it’s fine. Really.”

“We can talk about something else.”

Get it together.
“No...it was some time ago. We moved often, but it didn’t matter where we were. The world just sorta went crazy. From that war to the Boer Wars, World War I and World War II, Korea, Sino-Japanese, Vietnam...you get the picture. So, don’t judge me too unkindly when I rush through an airport. You’d be surprised how good places like Vegas and Ibiza are for our kind. Don’t look at me like that. I’m not broken. You get used to it.”

“I see nothing but sucky disadvantages.”

Tig refilled her glass and lifted his own in silent toast. “Not so bad from where I’m sitting at the moment.”

“That’s probably true. I bet your view is pretty fantastic.”

He coughed up the champagne he’d been trying to swallow, but couldn’t stop grinning, even as he patted away the mess. Dinah helped, giggling and dragging a napkin across his chin. He brought that hand to his lips, never once dropping his gaze from her face. She tried to turn away, but he couldn’t let her and brushed his lips across hers. The second he did, a streak of white, hot power ran through his body.

No.
No.

Yes.

She’d be good for him.
His body and soul reveled in it, even as his mind struggled to come to terms with his new, and very unexpected, reality.

“Whoa.”

“Sorry. I didn’t mean to. Well, I did, but...”

It was too crazy to think about. Djinn had to wait centuries to find their mates and then only if they were lucky. He’d heard of his kind traveling lifetimes, bumping into women and hoping for that sizzling burst of skin contact. Could his have just shown up?

“Everything okay?”

He kissed her in answer. It was easier. Better. A helluva lot safer than thinking.

Dinah’s lips were as soft as the first time. She gasped and her felt her smile against his mouth. That was all he needed to go back for seconds...well, thirds.

Then again, so had she. Slim, delicate arms looped around his neck and pulled him over.  Plastic scraped across plastic, as the partition to the aisle flew up, shielding them from view. Blue sparks of magic blinked around it. He tilted his head to see more, but the greedy little monster brought his lips right back to where she wanted them to be. Her magic had done that. Not her hands. They occupied his chin and back. He’d forgotten how much fun hanging with another Magical could be. Would his mate be playful? Adventurous? How would their magic work together?

A passing flight attendant would still be able to see them, but he used the little bit of privacy to his advantage, cupping one of her breasts in his hand.

“I can’t believe we’re doing this.”

Her breath was a heady mixture of mint and champagne. He wanted more of it. More of her, but he wouldn’t push. “Tell me to stop and I will.”

“Well, I didn’t say that.”

“Then use your power to dim the lights.”

She did.

“Put the rest of the cabin to sleep.”

She tried, but he got the sense that the poor thing’s magic well was nearly tapped dry. “Wish it. Make me do it.”

“There’s a lot of things I want to make you do right now. I wish that everyone in first class would completely ignore us.”

“Done.”

“I wish you would—”

“Say it.”

She showed him. Her hand left his face for his manhood, cupping and massaging him through his pants as he groaned into her mouth. He crawled over her, bracing his arms on either side of her headrest. The seat went down, not his doing – too many twinkling blue sparks – but he tumbled with it willingly, cock throbbing as he had her laid out beneath him.

He’d fuck her on this plane, enchantment or not. He didn’t care if anyone saw and he halfway hoped they did. The woman had him going primal.

The lamp on his necklace dangled between them. One day he’d have her in it and the thing seemed to know, reaching for her body as much as he did.

While her hands worked on his belt, he worked her, massaging her through the black tights she wore under her dress. They were so soaked that they may as well have not been there at all. She gritted her teeth while he rubbed the palm of his hand across her. The smell of it wafted up, clouding his mind. “Dinah?”

“Huh?”

“Look at me.”

His mate gazed at him through heavy lids, her breasts heaving against him. He held his coated hand between them. “I did that to you.”

“Keep doing it.” Dinah rocked in the chair, abandoning his dick to brace herself with the armrests.

He didn’t mind.

Much.

But if she wasn’t going to handle him, she was sure as hell going to give him a good show. He ripped open the crotch of her tights and yanked one of her legs over the center console. He spent exactly two seconds playing with the lips of her swollen womanhood before sending two fingers inside of her pink walls. Dinah’s lashes fluttered up, then right back down as his fingers slid out again.

Tight.

Perfect.

Mine.

His tongue flicked against her to taste every inch of the sweet and salty heaven she’d presented him.  While he rotated his hand inside her, his fingers turned upward to rub against the internal mound that had her thighs quivering.

“Tig?”

“Yeah, baby?”

But she didn’t answer. How could she over the panting? He’d risen for leverage. With the two fingers still inside her, he put his other hand on the space just below her navel and pressed down. The payout was delicious.

She screamed.

And pulled.

And clawed.

And applauded.

No...that last one wasn’t her. Far too thunderous. That was someone else...a lot of someone elses.

“Sir, please!”

Tig jumped up at the unexpected voice, cock out and hand glistening. “Ummm...”

While Dinah scrambled for a blanket, a flight attendant he hadn’t seen before called for backup. What had Dinah wished? His mind rolled back through the haze of lust to land on his freaking obvious mistake. He’d been too far gone to pay attention. She’d asked that none of the people in her cabin hear them. That didn’t particularly address the 250 others in the back.

“I wish this never happened.”

He glanced down at Dinah and shook his head. “Not granting that one.”

Hand over her mouth and eyes rolling, she tried again. “I wish this lady would leave us alone.”

The stewardess straightened her suit, apologized for the intrusion and disappeared out of first class, sidestepping the still oblivious first class attendants in the process.

Dinah’s hand on his cock brought the smile back to his face.

Temporarily.

She tried to shove it back in his pants. Not easy and getting harder. Literally. “Baby...”

“You’re standing in an airplane with your penis out. I have a hole in my leggings and the seat is soaked!”

“It’s leather so it won’t stain.”

“Not funny.”

“Also not finished. I’m not...anyway...”

“You can’t be serious.”

“I’ll only take a minute.”

It cut the tension and they shared soft chuckles while he brushed his knuckles against her thigh. “Beautiful.”

“I should go to the bathroom.”

“Let me.” He bent to his knees and tended to her, cleaning up as best he could with napkins and tissues. It took a lot not to lick her dry instead, but he held firm. “I am sorry about your tights. When you pull your dress down, no one will know...but me. You could wish them fixed, but I want you to walk around, knowing that I was here.”

Dinah’s hands dug into his hair and she leaned over to kiss him. “I’m glad you weren’t in your lamp.”

“And I’m glad you weren’t on your broom.”

The second she rose, the spell was broken. Although the scent of lust lingered in the air, leaning, grinning passengers from coach wouldn’t able to root out the source of it. Between the two of them, it would have taken nothing to remove it, but he enjoyed watching the flight staff squirm.

Too soon, the plane started its descent. He couldn’t pressure her, but letting her slip through his fingers wasn’t an option. He’d give her a week. Let her miss him – want him. “I’m putting my number in your phone. You’d better call me when you get back, Dinah, or I’m hunting you down.”

“Maybe.”

“Maybe?  I’ll turn this plane around and—”

“Okay, okay. I suppose I could use a dinner at some point. There are a few places back home I’ve wanted to try. With the right kid on my arm, who knows?”

“Kid? No, this number is for a man. Very powerful, but awful willing.”

His stomach tingled when her tongue darted out to the corner of her mouth. She nodded and pointed out past him to the window. “Ugly out there.”

He hated to break away, but turned to see. If someone treated the runways, it didn’t show. There was a sheet of white and silver in every direction. “I hope the flights can get out.”

“Yeah.” Dinah put on her coat and shoved her hands in her pockets, but didn’t stand, even as the cabin emptied around them.

“Text me to let me know you got to Napa okay.”

“I will and I want that dinner when we both get back to Galveston.”

“Done. Thank you. Bye, Dinah. Don’t forget me.”

“Not likely.”

He regretted the absence of a last kiss the moment she started walking away. He couldn’t help a look back over his shoulder and a little bolt of lightning went through him when he saw that she had too. A slight smile graced her face and he saluted her, before she disappeared down a corner and into the crowd.

It hit him like a feathery brick. A wish, one of the many, but this one sailed above the rest, lodging straight into his heart. “I wish he was coming to Napa.”

Chapter Three

S
he’d never felt more dirty.

Or splendid.

Fire danced on every naughty little inch of her body. If she could blush, she was sure this is what it would feel like.  Who did that? Who made out with a stranger on a plane?

Not her.

She did a lot more than make out. She get on,
got off
and then got off.

She needed a shower and pants. How could she stand another crotchless flight? She stopped at the nearest column, put her hand across her mouth and shook her head at her own damned self. What had she done? Who, rather?

Tig.

Crazy name.

Crazy lips.

Amazing fingers.
