She was brought back from her musings when Eon’s father stood and began to speak, “We are all grateful to the two human females who have decided to come and live with two of our people. They gave us hope in the darkest of times. We had decided to not send any more people to Earth and bring back more to populate our planet when Serenity became ill. It was our worst nightmare, relived. Anna’s resistance to the Blue Death saved her life and has allowed our Healers to develop a vaccination against further infection. It is the Council’s movement to reinstate the idea of bringing females from Earth to Salin. The Council calls Kylan to discuss his findings and how the vaccine will protect future Earth mates from the Blue Death.”

Kylan stepped into the middle of the room and began to speak, “As you all know the Blue Death is a virus that has taken our females, and those it has touched left them infertile. Serenity’s bought of the illness led to many breakthroughs, which I have my Anna to thank.” He looked at Anna with love in her eyes. The illumination of the screen behind him caused a swift intake of breath from Serenity. She stood slowly her eyes on the blob she had seen on a screen in her dreams. He limbs became heavy as if made of lead. Eon caught her as she collapsed. Kylan and Anna rushed to her side as she opened her eyes, her eyes void of color, only white. She sat up as if in a trance and walked to the screen. She looked at it before turning to face everyone. “They brought this to your planet like they did mine so long ago. But they will not stop because you have conquered their weapon. You must find them before they destroy you. The rapiers of planets are coming. They will take this planet and leave it dying.”

Eon walked to her, “Serenity?” he questioned.

“Worry not Eon, your mate is fine. Listen to me. I have much to say and little time.”

Eon nodded.

“These people come from far away, they are the same as you, but different. Their ship long ago landed on a planet the Ancestor’s assumed was viable. It changed them, genetically altered the inhabitants turning them into green monsters. They didn’t conserve their planet like other colonies did, but allowed it to die. They move from planet to planet, utilizing this virus to wipe the inhabitants from their next conquest, before raping the planet of its life and leaving it for the next one. If you want to live you will heed my warning. You must stop them.”

Serenity collapsed and Eon gathered her close. She looked up at him and said, “They are coming.” Eon nodded. He took her to their seat and held her in his lap. Kylan went back to his presentation. He reassured everyone that the vaccine was the answer and that all mates taken from Earth should receive the vaccine. The Council decided to go ahead as planned and chose their participants to go to Earth. They would make contact with Earth’s government and in trade for valuable information and technology they would make a deal to allow women of their own free will to travel to their planet to help secure mates for their male population.

“Now, as we all know, we have an enemy to prepare for, therefore, we will increase the training until further notice and we will begin shifts of crews that will orbit our planet to be on the lookout for this race who dares to believe themselves capable of taking our planet. This Council is dismissed.”

The High Councilor was waiting for them when they came home. He hugged his son then turned and hugged his little mate. At times Alric wished his mate had lived longer, but he hated to say he was happy she didn’t suffer through the Blue death. Serenity looked up at him with questioning eyes and he smiled at her as he followed his son into the house. Eon made Serenity sit down on the couch. She glared daggers at his back as he walked into the kitchen but smiled when he handed her a glass of juice. Alric chuckled to himself.

Serenity looked up at him, then said, “Why did everyone believe me when I went all trance like? They wouldn’t have done so on my planet.” She asked.

He answered, “We have known for a long time that there are things we can’t explain, and have always had a high number of seers in our population. We just assumed that you are a seer too.”

She nodded and leaned into Eon when he sat beside her.

“I came to ask Serenity if she thinks our plan will work, whether Earth will be open to the idea.” He asked at Eon’s questioning gaze.

Serenity smiled, then said “Well, I know you did a little sneaking for the last mission, so may I say that you should announce your presence loudly so our planet doesn’t go into defense mode. As long as you are non-threatening, then I really don’t think there will be that many problems. Just your standard diplomatic ones, I think.”

He nodded. “Eon, you chose well. I am happy that you stole your little mate.”

“I am too, Father.” Eon replied as he kissed her forehead.

Serenity gasped and placed her hand onto her stomach. Eon’s face turned panicked and he dropped to his knees in front of her, “What is it, little one?”

Serenity grabbed Eon’s hand and placed it on her abdomen, where he felt the little flutter. He smiled up at her when he realized the little baby was moving around. He kissed her abdomen. Serenity looked down and said, “She is starting to move.”

Eon peered into her eyes, then said, “You have been calling the baby she, why?”

Serenity thought about it for a second, and then said, “I have this feeling.”

Eon looked over at his father then said, “She is having a female!”

Serenity laughed as Alric beamed in pride at the thought of a granddaughter. She looked up as Anna came in with Kylan. She looked at Anna’s abdomen and smiled. “Anna, do you want to know?” Anna looked down and then grinned and shook her head no.

“You know it is supposed to be a surprise.”

Serenity laughed, “Yeah, I know, but I’ve got this feeling.”

Later that night as Eon held her in his arms, she smiled to herself. Eon rolled her onto her back and kissed her slowly rousing the passion he always elicited from her. He pulled back to look into her eyes, as he picked up the little pendant from her neck. “Mate of my Soul.” He said.

“What?” she asked in confusion.

“It’s what I wrote on it when I was 12, Mate of my Soul.” He said.

She pulled his lips to hers and kissed him deeply. He eased the pale blue nightgown from her baring her skin to his gaze. She smiled up at him, awed that he thought she was beautiful. He caressed each breast before suckling the tips into his mouth. She cried out, her back arching off the bed. He kissed her abdomen and whispered to the baby before easing lower and taking her breath away with sinful swipes of his tongue. She clasped her hands to his head holding him to her. She could feel that wire growing tighter, but he pulled back. She groaned at the loss. He chuckled as he kissed her lips.

“Get on your knees, little one.”

She shivered at his command, her sheath clenching in anticipation. He placed his hand on her upper back and pushed her head toward the bed. She rested her cheek on the soft mattress and lifted her hips higher for him. He probed her with the head of his shaft, sliding slowly through her juices before poising himself at her entrance. She moaned and he leaned down to kiss the nape of her neck and whisper how much he loved her, before taking her in one swift motion. She cried out as he began to piston into her, each thrust hitting deep, causing her to cry out. He reached around her hip and played her clit like an expert, sending her into orgasm. Her sheath rippled then began to clutch and release his shaft, taking the breath from him as he thrust once, twice and on the third buried himself balls deep into paradise and bathed her womb with his seed. They collapsed together, his heart beating nearly from his chest.

She moaned when he pulled himself from her and sighed when he gathered her close. They fell asleep in each other’s arms and slept even when they joined each other in their field of wildflowers.

Epilogue

Ceylon stored the last of his bags into the cargo hold of the ship. He couldn’t believe he had been chosen to go to Earth and help convince their governments that it would be a good investment to open trade amongst their planet. Of course they wanted females, but the Council had decided to begin with goods, then maybe they could covertly get females to decide of their own free will to come to their planet.

He didn’t see how that could happen, but he would do his job. What did he care? After Ashwin, he didn’t care much about anything. He didn’t live. He just survived day to day doing as was expected of him. He didn’t have anything to live for.

Ember cried out as his fist connected with her gut, she landed on the ground with tears in her eyes. He said he wouldn’t do it again. He had promised, but the blood from her nose told the truth. His hateful words as he kicked her one last time before leaving her lying on the floor, the blood mixing with her tears. Why did she ever believe him?

“They have found a vaccine for the virus, my lord.” said the green skinned man to his leader.

“This changes nothing. Their planet will be ours.” was the reply he received. “Ready the congress and we will discuss how this planet will be ours.”

The man nodded and left his leader staring with greed at the planet of Salin. This planet’s resources would last their people for at least five years. There was no way he would let this planet slip from his grip.
