ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

Sequels. Sigh. They’re hard. Everyone has this new scary thing called expectations. And the added pressure of knowing that everyone who is reading the sequel must’ve been a fan of the first is anxiety-inducing. What if they’re all disappointed?? But there’s also a comfort in writing a sequel because anyone reading it must love the characters and is already rooting for them before they turn back the cover. Yes, I’m rambling (and contradicting myself). My point? If you are reading the sequel, I love you. I hope you love it as much as I do. To all those who supported
Pivot Point
, who wrote me letters, reviewed my book, and encouraged me, thank you so much! I love readers.

Thanks again to my amazing agent, Michelle Wolfson, who makes writing fun and always knows just what to say. To Sarah Landis, my editor, thanks for the encouragement and wisdom. Thanks to the whole team at Harper and all the support they give me. Especially Mary Ann Zissimos, my awesome publicist, and Alice Jerman, for all her behind-the-scenes work.

I couldn’t write at all without the support of my family: my husband, Jared, who after sixteen years still makes me laugh every day; my kids, Hannah, Autumn, Abby, and Donavan, who I am so very proud of; my mom, Chris, for all her support;
and my parents-in-law, Vance and Karen, who love me like their own; my siblings, Heather, Jared, Spencer, and Stephanie; plus my extended siblings, Rachel, Zita, Kevin, Dave, Eric, Michelle, Sharlynn, Rachel, Brian, Angie, Jim, Emily, and Rick (yes, I have a lot of siblings, and they’re all great).

Thanks to the girls who help make my manuscripts shiny before my agent gets them: Candice, Stephanie, Jenn, Renee, Natalie, Sara, Julie, Misti, Linda, Jenny, and Nicki. Love you girls and I could never do it without you. And also, thanks to the Friday the Thirteeners, who helped get me through the crazy year leading up to publication: Erin, Ellen, Elsie, Jenn, Natalie, Renee, Shannon, Megan, April, Mindy, Brandy, and Alexandra. These ladies are talented and fun (and give pretty epic pep talks).

To my friends who try to remind me that there is life outside of writing—I know this is a hard job—thanks for caring: Elizabeth, Claudia, Candi, Neal, and all my church family.

If you just read through this entire acknowledgments expecting to see your name and didn’t, then I have failed. I’m sorry. Because I know I am forgetting people. Thanks to all who have supported me and continue to support me.
