"Tyler!" I gasped his name as
he entered me over and over again. With each thrust, the pressure mounted.
Every pump took me to closer to ecstasy until I felt I would finally shatter to
pieces. Our connection never broke as he pushed me closer to the edge. Just
when I thought I couldn’t bear anymore of the exquisite agony, I felt an orgasm
wash over and wholly consume me. My inner muscles contracted wildly while Tyler
increased the rhythm of his thrusts searching for his own outlet.

Moaning with abandon and overwhelmed by
sensation, I hung on until I felt Tyler tense. With one final thrust, he drove
into me. I pulled Tyler against my body even as my insides still shuddered
against his pulsing cock.

Far before I was ready to let him go,
Tyler rolled off of me and headed toward the bathroom. It gave me a few moments
to compose myself and to think. I smiled to myself. I had no regrets. What had
passed between us had been amazing. I was feeling on top of the world.

No matter what Tyler might think, this
was not casual sex. I could no longer deny that there wasn’t real substance
underneath my infatuation for Tyler. I had seen something in his eyes that he
couldn’t hide and it gave me the confidence I needed to pursue my secret
fantasies that I barely dared to dream.

Tyler finished in the bathroom and then
came over to the bed, perfectly nude. If he wasn’t shy about his body, then I
wasn’t going to be shy about looking. It was already giving me naughty ideas
for later.

Tyler rubbed his hand through his hair.
“You probably should head back to your room.”

His words were like a splash of cold
water. I lamely tried to joke, “That’s all? You’re worn out after that? I
expected more from a rock star.”

His eyes flashed dark with anger. “Sorry
I didn’t live up to your expectations, Katie. Maybe you should’ve invited the
camera crew in here, maybe then you wouldn’t be so disappointed. At least you
would have some good footage.”

Oh shit
. “That was a joke, Tyler. I’m not disappointed at all. Maybe
we need to talk about this.”

His eyes didn’t soften. “There’s nothing
to talk about. You got what you wanted from me, so now you can leave.”

All the anger I saw earlier in the
hallway was coming back. Somehow, I had mistakenly thought that our lovemaking
had broken through the antagonism Tyler felt towards me and highlighted a truth.
“Tyler, we have to work together. If something is bothering you, let’s talk
about it. I’m not sure why you’re so mad at me.”

“I’m not mad at you.” Tyler stalked
across the room and picked up my dress. He tossed it over to the bed.

I could see his jaw clenching. He was
really
mad under the calm surface. I wanted to pound the bed in frustration. Somehow,
I had read something in his eyes that just wasn’t there. Evidently, he had
fucked me because he could. Because he wanted to. There was no deeper meaning
to it. There was no soul connection.

I began slipping the dress over my head,
holding back my tears. “I don’t understand. Why are you treating me like this?
What have I done?”

Tyler sneered. “I lost respect for you
long before you spread your legs for me and cheated on your boyfriend. You might
think what I do is wrong – sleeping with different women – but at
least I never betrayed anyone. The girls that I’m involved with know they’re
just getting a good lay and they’re okay with that.”

I gasped with shock at the cruel words he
was throwing at me. “Spread my legs for you? Is that how little you value me?”

Tyler’s eyes were blazing as he walked
back towards the bed. “You only sleep with men who can do something for you.
You’re the one who told me that Rock Star Diaries would make or break your career.
It looks like you’re going to make it now.”

My mouth hung open in astonishment at
these crazy accusations. “I didn’t need to sleep with you to make the show a
success –”

“What if it all implodes now? What if
Cold Fusion suddenly stops jumping through all your hoops? Would it all fall
apart?” Tyler’s anger was palpable, but nothing he was saying was making any
sense.

I felt everything slipping away from me
including the insane notion that I was in love with Tyler and that he had real
feelings for me. My stomach was churning with fear. I couldn’t fight this
unless I figured it out. I was panicked. I wanted to run out the door and
soothe my hurt feelings. I wanted to cower from the awful things he had said to
me, but I had to keep him talking so that I could prove he was wrong about me.
If I walked out that door now, I knew it was all over.

“Tyler –”

The cellphone on the night table began
ringing. Tyler grabbed it and looked at the caller. The angry scowl melted from
his face as he answered. “Hey.”

I heard a woman on the other end of the
call, but I couldn’t hear what she said. Tyler turned his back to me and talked
quietly. The conversation was less than a minute, but when Tyler turned back
around, he almost looked surprised to see me still there.

Tyler shook his head sadly. “I thought
you were different, Katie.”

Chapter 12

The phone call had been short, but those
few words had set his mind racing. Moments earlier he had been lashing out at
Katie in complete anger. Yeah, he had been butt hurt when she made that
wisecrack about rock stars. It hit a little too close to home for him lately.
But that had been just an excuse to lash out.

It had slipped out when he told Katie
that he had thought she was different than other girls, but that was the real
source of his pain. He had really liked her. For a moment, when they were
having sex, he had felt something, a longing for their relationship to be more
than just a fantastic night of sex. He had never wanted a committed
relationship to one woman before in his entire life. He even scorned his friends
for having girlfriends, because he just didn’t understand it.

Cold Fusion had always lived by two hard,
fast rules. ‘No repeat sex’ and ‘no love without the glove’. He’d only slipped
up a few times by mistake, and that was only on rule one. The rules had worked
well for the band for more than a decade. Why did it all seem to be falling
apart now? Why was he questioning the very basics?

He had wrongly built up in his head his
relationship to Katie into something it was not. There was nothing special
between them. So, she was a good fuck. She wasn’t the first and she wouldn’t be
the last. He wasn’t the type of guy to over-analyze his feelings. He’d move on
and forget about her, just like he had hundreds of other girls.

As he stepped under the warm spray from
the shower, his mind was already turning away from Katie. He was excited and
terrified all at the same time. He replayed the phone conversation in his head:

“Tyler? It’s Sabrina. We got the call.”

He struggled to let the meaning of her
words sink in. Her ragged breath broke the silence on the other end of the line.
He heard her soft sob, “God I’m so scared, Ty.”

He snapped out of his stupor and spoke
soothingly, “Hey. It’s okay. This is a good thing, right? When is it?”

“As soon as they can.” Another sob. “I
don’t think I can do this.”

He wished he could wrap her in his arms
and comfort her. “You can. Hang in there. I’m on my way.”

Tyler hurried through his shower, while
he thought about all he needed to do. When he stepped out of the bathroom with
a towel wrapped around his waist, he was stunned to find Katie waiting for him.

“Katie, what the fuck are you still doing
here?” He found his bag and started pulling out fresh clothes.

She looked so damned beautiful as she watched
him warily. She was dressed once again in her sexy black dress and heels, but
her hair was messed up, making her look softer and more vulnerable. She was
anything but, though and he would be smart to remember that.

“Tyler, I don’t want to leave like this.
Can we please just talk about this?”

For a moment, he got the urge to ease the
obvious distress on her face. But of course she was worried. She didn’t want
anything to go wrong for her precious show. The thought made him angry again
and he didn’t have time or energy for that right now.

Tyler slipped on a pair of jeans. “No. I
don’t want to talk. Now, would you just leave? I’m busy.”

Katie put her hands on her hips. “Are you
going somewhere? Now? At two o’clock in the morning?”

He didn’t have time to argue. He’d get
ready and go, leave her arguing with an empty room. She watched while he
slipped on a black t-shirt and stuffed his old clothes back into the bag. He
went back into the bathroom and dumped his personal toiletries into his bag.
That was it. He was ready to roll.

When he walked out with his packed bag,
Katie sighed. “Are you going back to the tour bus? You don’t have to –
I’ll just leave.”

Why did he have the urge to upset her? To
make her feel as shitty as she made him feel? He headed for the door. “I’m not
going to the tour bus. I’m leaving.”

“What do you mean, leaving?” She started
following him to the door.

Tyler had already lifted his phone to his
ear and called his bodyguard. “Sam, it’s Tyler. I need a ride to the airport.
I’ll be in the lobby waiting.”

Katie started sounding nervous. “Wait!
What? Tyler, where are you going? What about the concert tomorrow? What about
the show? You signed a contract. You can’t just leave.”

Tyler twisted the black leather cuff on
his wrist as he walked down the hall. “Oh yeah? Watch me.”

***

Tyler stood in the far corner of the
deserted hotel lobby watching the elevators, waiting for Sam where he could
easily duck out of sight if Katie came looking for him.

He found Scott’s number on his phone and
called. He hated disturbing his manager when he was enjoying some time in Las
Vegas with his wife, but this was important. It wasn’t the first late night
call his manager had ever received from Tyler anyway.

Scott answered and from the background
noise, Tyler was relieved that Scott was probably still out on the town.

“Hey man. I got a call from Sabrina. It’s
fucking happening. I gotta go.” Tyler frowned, his voice sounded shaky.

Scott’s voice boomed across the phone. “Jesus,
Tyler. That’s fantastic. Okay. You’ll miss tomorrow night. Will you be back for
San Fran?”

Tyler rubbed his eyes. “I don’t know,
man.”

Scott must have moved to a quieter place.
The noise was gone and his voice was more modulated. “Right. Don’t worry about
it. I’ll take care of everything. Just keep in touch and let me know how
everything is going.”

“Tell the guys I’m sorry for fucking up
the schedule.”

Scott sighed. “The guys will understand.”

Tyler watched a worker roll a floor
polisher into the massive lobby. “Scott, I don’t want anyone to know. Keep it
within the band. Don’t let the media find out.”

Scott answered quickly. “No. We’ll put
out a statement that you’re sick or something. Resting your voice. The rags
will probably speculate that you’re in rehab or something, though.”

Tyler grunted in disgust. “I don’t care
about that. Just keep it under wraps for me.”

Scott paused before answering. “I will.
But you’re going to get spotted out in public. Especially if you’re supposed to
be on tour. You’d better keep a low profile. And bring your bodyguard with you.
He can help you avoid getting spotted and if you do, I want someone with you.”

The man in the gray jumpsuit began
polishing the floor. “I’ll take Sam if I can get two airline tickets on the
first flight. I’m not waiting around, though.”

“All right. Let me know what’s going on.
I’ll be worried until I hear from you.”

The elevator binged and Tyler watched Sam
step into the lobby. “I’ll keep in touch. Thanks, Scott.”

Tyler disconnected the call and then
stepped out of the shadows to approach his bodyguard. “Sam, pack your bags.
We’re heading to Cleveland.”

Chapter 13

I woke up groggy with a pounding
headache. Where was my water bottle? It took me a few moments to remember that
I was still in Tyler’s hotel room. I had found a gray t-shirt that he had left
behind in his hurry to leave and had slept in it. Unfortunately, Tyler had
never returned.

Worried thoughts soured my mood as I
slipped back into my fancy dress and heels for the ‘walk of shame’ back to my
hotel room. I tried calling Tyler’s phone several times that morning, but it
was clear he
wasn’t picking up
.
Work was scheduled to begin at
10AM that morning, so I needed to get ready. I hoped like hell that Tyler was
back at the bus when I arrived, but I had serious doubts.
No, he had walked
out.
