“No paparazzi out there,” Errol said. “All is well.” He hopped down and headed to the Jeep.

All was well, or would be. Bryce would have liked Errol. Hell, Bryce could have handpicked him, as well as Errol and Joe fit together. He crossed to the hearth and lifted the picture of him with Bryce in their turn-outs. “Miss you, buddy.” He could have sworn Bryce winked at him from the shadow beneath his helmet.

Joe rubbed his thumb along the platinum bands in his front pocket. He hadn’t worked out exactly what he’d say when he asked, but tonight in front of the fire, he’d ask Errol to make it official.

Joe grinned. They could always pretend to be snowed in.
