Kyler looked at his friends. “I don’t think so. I think it makes sense. You can sublet yours.”
Ken walked up to the group. “Don’t like the show?”
“Kyler just asked Cody to move in with him.” Avery held up a finger to his lips.
Instead of leaving, Ken folded his arms and waited.
“Really? We need an audience?” Cody asked.
“You’re the one conducting your private life at work.” Avery shrugged.
“We’ll go watch the show as soon as we hear the answer.” Joey nodded to Ken.
Brian put an arm around his boyfriend, and the whole place seemed to go still waiting for Cody’s answer. Kyler felt a bit of pressure. Rejection would be bad, but he knew it would just be a delay.
“Don’t keep us waiting all night,” Ken said.
Cody wiped his hands on a bar towel. “Okay, fine. Yes, I’ll move in when I find someone to sublet.”
“I’m sure some of the guys here would love that. I’ll let them know.” Ken headed backstage.
Kyler pulled Cody down for a kiss and could not help smiling. “Good call.”
“Are you sure you have enough room?” Cody asked.
“You’re there most of the time anyway,” Brian said.
Joey elbowed his boyfriend. “And Kyler loves it. We love having you in the group, Cody. It’s good. Now let’s not hurt the hot boy’s feelings.”
Joey led Brian over to a table so they could watch the show. The other friend who had tagged along went with them.
Avery moved off to fill a drink order, and then Kyler felt as if he finally had a private moment with his guy. “So you’re sure?”
Cody nodded. “It’d happen eventually. We’re going to be together forever, so why not? But don’t think I’m going to let you pay for everything. Promotion or not.”
“Fair is fair. You’ll have to clean too,” Kyler said.
Cody leaned over and kissed Kyler. “We can work on the fancy car, and you can teach me to cook.”
“You just hate doing the dishes.” Kyler grinned.
“We can take turns, easier then.” Cody sliced some more lime wedges.
Kyler did not care if the dishes ever got done. His boyfriend was dreamy in a T-shirt and tight jeans. It was nice to see him fully clothed. Kyler had suggested Cody get another certification for lab work or X-ray tech, but he liked the rush of driving an ambulance and the calm of mixing drinks.
“Tomorrow night, I’m treating to good Chinese after my time at the shelter,” Kyler said.
“No cleaning up. I’ll meet you at the shelter when I’m done with my shift.” Cody grinned.
“You don’t have to go to the shelter with me if you don’t want to. It’s my volunteer thing. I can meet you at the restaurant.” Kyler said.
Cody shot Kyler a look that said

. Ever since he had spoken to the kids, he was popular. It was nice to see Kyler’s honesty as he actually helped the teens in person too.
