“For you, maybe.”

“You little liar. So, were you screaming and riding me like a horse because you were bored?”

Caraway elbowed him sharply, but Brody knew her too well and dodged the jab.

“I can barely move.”

“Too bad.” He slipped his arm around her.

“Why is that?” She struggled to pull the blanket from her head and to get away from his touch. “What do you want?”

“I was thinking we could meet up with Alexander and Lila tonight.” Brody grinned hopefully.

“You’re stark raving mad.”

“Later in the week, then?” he volleyed.

“Get out.” Her power formed a nimbus over her head that was not unlike a thundercloud. With lightning.

“Okay,” Brody gave in, “but I’ll be back.”

As soon as he was gone, she popped another chocolate in her mouth. Coriander was going to kill her. She’d just eaten the last of her stash.

Suddenly she was angry, chocolate notwithstanding. How dare he come into her room and act like the last two weeks just hadn’t happened? That he hadn’t taken a royal shit on her feelings and just because—
oh
. Caraway sighed. Brody was just treating her the way she’d let him. She really shouldn’t have...

Shut it! That damned little voice in the back of her head needed some time off. A vacation. Because when it was silent, that’s when she was the happiest. Maybe not the smartest, because it had been on reprieve when she’d shagged two guys at the same time, but the happiest. She wondered if maybe there was a switch somewhere so she could just turn it off and it would never have to come back.

Caraway pulled the pillow over her head.

Only to have her idyll shattered. “Just what the blue Hell are you doing, Caraway Wormwood?”

What was Lila Darkend doing in her dorm room? The apocalypse was nigh!

Lila pulled the pillow from her face, then her nose wrinkled like a pug who’d just shoved her snout into something unpleasant. She dropped the pillow back into place. “Devil Almighty, but didn’t your mother teach you any grooming spells? Your breath smells like something crawled in there and died.”

“It didn’t die, exactly,” Caraway began, her voice muffled through the pillow.

The bed creaked under Lila’s slight weight. “Listen here, doll. I need you to do me a favour.”

Lila Darkend wanted a favour from her? “What is it?”

“You needn’t sound so terrified. I simply want you to keep doing what you’re doing.”

“And what am I doing?” Caraway sat up and tossed the pillow to the floor.

Lila blinked and, with a snap of her fingers, she cast a grooming spell. Caraway’s teeth no longer felt like they were wearing a sweater and there was a cinnamon taste on her tongue. “Ah, that’s better. Now, as to what you’re doing...keeping Alexander entertained.”

“Not that I have a problem with that, but why do you want me to?”

She laughed. “Because I want to break our engagement.”

Caraway’s first thought was,
Are you crazy?
But what came out was, “Why do you think I can help with that?”

“First of all, because he
likes
you. Second of all, I’ve decided
I
like you, too. Probably not as much as Alexander. But, see, that’s a good thing. He’s not bad as far as males go.

I just don’t want to be married to anyone.”

Caraway shifted on the bed and cringed with the discomfort.

“Oh, sugar. They did a number on you, didn’t they?”

They? How did she know? Had Alexander told her about their—?

“Brody told me. He’s got problems, that one.” Lila shook her head with blatant disapproval. She tugged a small jar of something out of her bag. “Here, I brought you a present.”

“What’s that?” Caraway eyed it suspiciously.

“Something to soothe your bits, darling.”

“So it’s topical?”

“Don’t look so suspicious. It’s not going to bite you.”

“Pardon me if I’m a little cautious.” Caraway raised a brow.

“Of course you are. And you should be. The current fiancee of your lover comes to your room with the knowledge you’re banging him blue and offers a cream for the part of your anatomy that’s taking him from her? Yes, you’d be stupid not to be ‘a little cautious’ as you say.”

“Then there’s the part where said fiancee is Lila Darkend.”

“Yes, doll. There is that.” Lila licked her lips and reclined on the bed next to her, her hand on Caraway’s hip.

A strange jolt went through Cara and she cringed in pain.

It was lust. Lila Darkend was making a move on her and Caraway wasn’t going to say no. And why should she? These dark-siders seemed better adjusted than anyone else she knew. They didn’t try to hide who or what they were and they were happier for it. She didn’t owe anyone anything—there was no commitment between her and Morningstar. He and Lila had an open relationship. If she wanted something, she should take it. Wasn’t that what Alexander had said?

“So, this salve...” Cara began.

Lila’s hand moved down the outside of her bare thigh. “I’ll apply it for you, if you like,” she said in a throaty voice.

“Only if you’ll let me do the same for you.”

Neither of them mentioned that Lila had no need for the salve. It was Caraway’s invitation for more, and a test of Lila’s intentions. If she refused the salve, then Caraway certainly wouldn’t use it.

Lila handed her the jar and, when her fingers brushed against Lila’s, the dark-sider slowly closed the distance between their mouths. Caraway hurt like Hell, every new sensation one of pleasure threaded with pain, but she wanted this experience.

Again, Caraway was surprised by how soft Lila was, how her lush mouth opened for her and how it seemed this woman was made for pleasure. Caraway was jealous. Her own hair had never been so luxurious, her own skin never so silky...

“You’re lovely, Caraway,” Lila whispered against her mouth, almost as if she knew what the witch was thinking.

She remembered Alexander’s spell from last night, when he’d removed her clothes, and Cara spoke the word softly, stripping Lila bare but for her black thong.

“And a fast learner. Already Alexander’s magic comes to you at your call.”

Caraway found it strange for the warlock to be talking about Alexander at a time like this—a bit unsettling, as well.

She must have stiffened, because Lila spoke again.

“Don’t freeze up on me now—things are just getting interesting.”

Caraway used her magic again to secure Lila’s wrist to the headboard.

“I can’t apply the ointment if I’m tied up,” she said as she squirmed against her bonds.

“No, you can’t, can you?” Caraway replied lightly. “And you can’t get away from me, either.”

Lila could break the bonds with her magic if she wished— while they had been put into place with power, they were simple restraints. When Lila didn’t complain, Caraway secured her ankles as well, spreading her legs wide. She hooked her thumbs under the edges of the delicate bands of the thong and slid it down Lila’s shapely thighs.

The warlock gasped as she was bound, and it was obvious from her peaked nipples and glistening cunt that Lila wanted everything Caraway could imagine doing to her.

She wondered if Alexander had felt this kind of rush when a woman was panting and begging beneath him—if it was the same.

Caraway slid down the bed with the jar of cream in her hand. She opened it and the scent of roses and rain enveloped her. It bore no sign of hexes, curses or spells. She dipped her fingers into it and warmth tingled up her arm.

She rubbed it between her fingers, loving the silky texture as it was absorbed slowly into her skin, leaving no residue.

Caraway took a dab and smeared it on Lila’s taut nipples.

They stood stiff and erect, harder than they’d been when Caraway had bound her. Her mouth was open, her breath coming in small pants, and her dark eyes watched Caraway’s every movement.

Cara worked and tugged on the sensitive peaks, smoothing the cream into her skin. There was a new heat coming from the cream on her fingers and from Lila’s flesh. Lila arched into the caress.

“More,” she demanded.

Caraway imagined their positions reversed, being in complete and utter submission to this warlock as she worked the cream over her body. No, definitely not.

Her slit tightened in response and she knew she’d just lied to herself.

She moved one hand to between Lila’s thighs, pressing the heel of her hand against her mound. Lila bucked futilely, the bonds restraining her struggles. Caraway watched the warlock’s face as she slathered the ointment over the wet flesh and she cried out.

“Goddess, Caraway. Please!”

Caraway pushed two fingers inside her and continued to manipulate Lila’s clitoris with her other hand. Her hips jerked with the thrusts, an attempt to draw Caraway deeper and force her to increase her rhythm.

The witch removed her fingers, much to Lila’s obvious dismay. The warlock opened her mouth to complain and Caraway thrust her fingers there, smearing the cream over Lila’s lips and forcing her to taste her own honey. The warlock licked greedily at Caraway’s flesh and white-hot jolts of need spiralled through her.

She tore her knickers off and straddled the warlock’s face.

Lila didn’t hesitate to lick at her as desperately as she had the witch’s fingers. A strange, warming sensation tingled through her cunt as Lila spread the salve with her tongue.

The ache there bloomed into a throbbing, but it wasn’t of pain. It was bliss, pure ecstasy as Lila’s hot tongue thrust against her. Caraway leant down and returned the caress, sweeping her tongue over Lila’s clit.

The cream tasted like spun sugar, soft and delicate, melting on her tongue. It surprised Caraway that she liked the taste of the undertones of Lila’s cunt. She laved at the wet flesh and used three fingers to penetrate her more fully.

Lila’s strokes faltered when she came against Caraway’s mouth, but she didn’t stop. She flicked her tongue against Caraway’s clit even as she screamed her release. The witch ground her pussy against the warlock’s mouth and Lila obliged her, licking and sucking until Caraway found her release.

The sensation had been pleasant, but nothing like what she’d felt with Alexander. Not even the power and control she’d exerted over Lila had brought her close to what was between them.

Alexander walked from his bed to his door. From his door to his closet. From his closet back to the bed. Then to the door again.

He was pacing.

He was irritated.

It was all Caraway’s fault.

He had to see her.

No. No. And
no
. He was Alexander bloody Morningstar, he didn’t have to do anything.

But he was nearly out of his head. He wanted to see her, to touch her again, to see if he’d broken that innocence in her. And he doubted it. Alexander was sure her eyes were still luminous and clear, her mouth was still sweet, her body still soft and pliable...

Merlin, the things he could do to her, the things he
would
do to her. The things he
had
to do to her.

His body refused to obey him, thick and hard at even the thought of her.

Alexander had never been unable to control himself—the ice inside him had always been harder. Not with Caraway.

If this kept up, he might have to kill her.

It wasn’t reasonable to expect a male to go through existence mooning over blackcurrant curls and honey lips. It just wasn’t. Especially if the male was him.

Morningstars did not moon. Certainly not.

The only answer for it, short of killing her, was to stay away from her. And suddenly, that was the last thing that he wanted to do.

She was just supposed to be something to play with, an amusement, but she was quickly becoming an obsession.

Hadn’t he just decided to stay away from her? It would be easier if he wasn’t thinking about her.

Alexander needed a drink and a blow job from an ambitious freshman. Or maybe Lila. Although neither choice appealed to him, which was a first for Alexander. Women had always been interchangeable to him. One would do just as well as another—but not this time. Alexander knew she wouldn’t be ready for him again already, not after taking him and Brody at the same time.

He reclined on his bed, hoping to release some of his frenetic energy and need with an orgasm. Alexander freed his cock and closed his eyes, running his thumb lightly over the engorged head, teasing himself.

The door to his suite of rooms clicked open and Alexander looked up to see Lila, looking a little worse for wear. He didn’t stop stroking himself as he noticed her bee-stung mouth, her mussed hair and the aura of magic that held her clothes together.

“Who’d you fuck? Come tell me about it.”

Her eyes focused on his cock, the lazy action of his hand working over the engorged flesh.

Lila walked slowly over to the bed. She braced one knee on the mattress and the other foot on the floor. She leaned in to him, brushed her lips across his.

“You like that?”

“It tastes like...” Caraway. “Pussy.”

“It is.” She drew her tongue along his. “It’s Caraway and Cream. She just came on my face not thirty minutes ago.”

Alexander felt a black rage boil in his blood. Not
his
Caraway.

“Oh, don’t like that, do you?” she purred and wrapped her hand around his, working his shaft.

Alexander realised he was in his shadow form and the air in the room crackled with magic. He pulled on the mask again, breathed deeply and focused on the pleasure. He had no call and no right to be angry. Caraway didn’t belong—no, she did. It didn’t matter what they called it. Dating. Fucking.

Shagging. She was his.

And he was hers.

This had been a long time coming with them—the constant banter, the magical sparring had all been a manifestation of the polarity between them. When he’d had her in the Dean’s tower, it had sealed something into place. Although Alexander couldn’t name it.

It had to be a spell. Devil forbid Alexander Morningstar had come by this awfulness honestly.

Lila increased her speed and he released his cock to her ministrations. “You’re imagining her now,” she said. “Do you want to hear about how I licked her sweet cunt, or do you want to hear about how she tied me up?”
