“But you couldn’t have…”
“Known?” He shook his head. “I never took the others to Big
Bear, nor did I bring them here. No one has been touched in either room the way
I’ve touched you.” He kissed her softly. “I hoped one day I’d find my true mate.”
He ran his tongue down the side of her neck where he licked tiny circles around
her erratically beating pulse. “It’s you I waited for.”
“When did you know?”
“The instant you bit my lip at The Moat.” He laughed. “I
snared the most precious butterfly in my net.” Cass reached for a curl of her
hair. “And I promise not to clip your wings.”
A blush crept over her cheeks. “You remembered that.”
“Darlin’, I’ll remember everything that makes you smile.” He
kissed her mouth softly. “There is more to discover and I can’t wait to teach
you.”
“And if I…”
“Just say stop.” He drew her into the circle of his arms.
“Can I touch this?” His hand covered her heart.
“Always.” Her smile lit his world brighter than the sun
overhead.
He kicked the door shut, and said, “Damn, Harlow, you’re in
my bedroom.”
J. Hali Steele wishes she could grow fur, wings or fangs so
she can stay warm, fly or just plain bite the crap out of... Well, since she
can't, she would much rather roam where her fictional big cats live—in the high
desert of California. She enjoys spending time with her sisters and friends who
willingly listen to her ramblings about the paranormal world and anything else
that goes bump in the night. They're a captive audience, but she promises to
untie them soon!
